Tarrazu is considered to be the best region in the country for coffee production. The region is located in high altitudes and this is why only SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) coffees are being produced there.
This coffee is produced by the company named Cooperativa de Caficultores y Servicios Múltiples de Tarrazú (COOPETARRAZU) which is located in the central part of San Marcos, Tarrazu. This organization got its Fair Trade Certificate in 2005.
The crop is harvested from October to March. Soil type is volcanic. Climate has 2 seasons: dry and wet/ rainy.
