Ocotepeque is a department in Honduras located in the western part of the country. Habitants of this region are mainly engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. The major crops of Ocotepeque are tobacco, coffee, corn, wheat, rice, potato, onion and cabbage.
Coffee is washed or wet processed here. It grows under the tree shadows and the beans are picked by hand. Afterwards beans are sorted in water by floating which is a method of separating the defects and the unripe ones as they float on the water level because of being less dense.
After the beans are sorted they are then depulped and moved to special storage tanks to pass the fermentation. Next the beans are washed in clean water and then spread on the African beds for drying.
After the drying stage coffee beans are sent to the dry mill for hulling which is the parchment removing process. Afterwards they are sorted by size and density and in the end are packed in GrainPro bags for shipping and export.
